(MONTCLAIR, NJ) ― After an extensive executive search, the Montclair Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Charles Fischer as Executive Director of Van Vleck House & Gardens. Charles has served as Interim Executive Director of Van Vleck House & Gardens since December 2012.

Charles brings over 25 years of experience as a corporate banker and senior credit-rating analyst to the position. He has been actively involved in the Montclair community, serving as a Board Trustee for the Montclair Ambulance Unit and a member of the Upper Montclair Business Association. Charles and his wife, Valerie, have been residents of Montclair since 1982.

The Montclair Foundation was established in 1979 to support not-for-profit organizations that meet health, educational, cultural, social service and quality-of-life needs in the greater Montclair community. A non-profit organization, the Foundation serves as a liaison between Montclair charitable causes and the dollars that support those causes.

In 1993 the heirs of Howard Van Vleck made a gift of his property to the Montclair Foundation. Under the Foundation’s stewardship the Van Vleck House was transformed into a center for non-profits. Several New Jersey foundations reside on the second floor of the house, and the ground floor is available for rent to non-profit organizations. The gardens are open to the public every day from dawn to dusk.
