Plant of the Month

Plant of the Month

winter jasmine

Botanical Name: Jasminum nudiflorum
Common Name: Winter Jasmine
Bloom Time: February through March.
Plant Size: 3’tall, 6’ wide.
Site Conditions: Best sited in full sun to light shade, in soils of average to well-drained.
Diseases: Nothing of major concern.
Notes: A low maintenance, multistemmed arching shrub whose stems are a rather attractive green in color throughout the winter. The 1” diameter yellow flowers appear as the temperatures begin to rise into the low 40’s during daytime hours. The flowers are not fragrant, but do provide a nice show. Plant is best positioned on top of a wall, allowing the stems to trail down the wall; under proper growing conditions, plants can cover a 16’ tall wall!
